This Cold Pork Knuckle dig was the main reason how we landed in Chinese Palace at Kampung Attap for brunch.
I was craving for this and started hunting for it in KL / Selangor. Was unsuccessful at first then suddenly a photo popped out in this restaurant’s page in google. Good Lord!
This cold dish had been present in my life since young in KK, Sabah. We have 2 Shanghainese restaurants in KK which started from the 1970s and survived until today. Well, one closed down last year; I guessed it was because the old couple had no one to take over the business. But the other is still going strong.
So, I could easily get this cold dish whenever I wanted until I moved to KL.
Maybe there are places offering this dish which I have not found yet but as for now, Chinese Palace was my only option.
I made a reservation and even confirmed this dish was available before I headed over.
I was so happy to have found this dish that I had forgotten this is Mother’s Day weekend. Good God, this restaurant had a massive waiting crowd; in the foyer and outside the main entrance.
We were okay, when we reached at 11AM we got our table immediately. No waiting.
Their menu and ordering system reminded me of the Oriental group of restaurants but I don’t think this restaurant is part of their family. However, some dishes offered were similar.
Shimeiji mushrooms in salted egg
Pork belly with salted veggie
Fried Ying Yang in XO sauce
Orange Pudding
