Aunty Ada

This is Aunty Ada.
Her shop is at Puteri Mart, Puchong.

I thought she was totally new in this market but later found she was all along here, another corner. She just moved over to this corner about 6 months ago.
Well thank God or else I wouldn’t have seen her or got to know her.
She has great food products, homemade by herself, in her shop. Lots of pre-marinated food like minced pork with salted fish. Just steam for a meal. That’s it!
Today I suddenly realized she has Chinese Rice Wine and so without thinking, I said out loud, “Ah mehhh mau kon thau eh wong chiu.”
Aunty Ada got excited and started speaking Hakka to me. Oh my God, you are a Hakka, she said. Long time no speak Hakka, she said. Haha!

She was very sporting when I asked to take her photo and some video clips to do a video for her shop. Great lady!

National Traditional Liondance Championship

Sungei Wang Shopping Centre, downtown KL

I only went on Sunday.
Strange venue for a lion dance competition, at the entrance, just by the main road. But, it did catch a lot of tourists’ attention so lucky for them, being able to witness some lion dance performances, live!

SO MANY PEOPLE, when watching my lion dance videos in TikTok, have NEVER in their lives watch a lion dance performance before. The question that popped up the most was… “Are there 2 persons in that lion?”
The most amazing thing is that they have a Chinatown nearby!!!

Some of the pictures below were taken from the Sungei Wang videos. I printscreened them just because I can see myself in the crowd HAHAHAHAHA!!!

40th Melaka International Dragon Boat Festival 2025

It was good that Melaka had advertised about this year’s Dragon Boat Festival early. I booked my hotel room a month in advance. We came an extra 2 days before the dragon boat weekend knowing that Melaka would be jammed packed. Took the excuse to explore the new parts of Melaka.

We happily explore new places on Thursday. Friday, we took the chance to walk around the areas outside of Jonker Street, from Taming Sari Tower all the way to Kampung Morten.

Friday came and I excitedly checked the Melaka River. No sign of a race coming up. Hmmm!
Weird thing was nobody around Jonker Street knew about the festival. No banners. No ads. No nothing.
But it was a huge festival in Melaka all these years, so I thought.
Friday evening came and as we were having dinner, Hubs noticed the Sabah team walking towards the river with their paddles.
Hooray! There is a festival after all.

I was up and about by 6AM on the Saturday morning. By 7AM I was at the river. Walked by the dragon boat teams. Such a relief to me. I saw the Sabah team and made friends.
And as they say… the rest is history!
Now, memories and special moments.
