Shanghai - Fairmont Peace Hotel

Fairmont Peace Hotel
New Year's Eve 2021

Fairmont Peace Hotel officially started in 1929.
Located on the Bund, it is one of Shanghai's most famous landmarks.
It's gotta be because of its bright green copper pyramid roof!

Famous guests who stayed in this hotel were Charlie Chaplin and George Bernard Shaw.

The Fairmont Peace Hotel consists of 2 buildings:

South building (left): Constructed in 1854 as Central Hotel then renamed to Palace Hotel in 1903. Today it hosts artists from around the world who wish to stay for a limited time for work; This residence and studio for artists is known as The Swatch Art Peace Hotel.

North Building (right): The Sassoon House; built by Sir Victor Sassoon. Originally, it was Cathay Hotel and today it is the Fairmont Peace Hotel.

Kuala Lumpur - Nasi Lemak Alor Corner

Nasi Lemak Alor Corner

This famous nasi lemak stall is located at the top of Changkat Road, directly opposite the famous Alor "Food" Street. Stall is usually set up by 7.45AM except on Mondays.
We were there just before 8AM and wow, there was already a queue.
I was very excited to finally visit this stall as I have heard that their nasi lemak (fragrant rice cooked in coconut milk) is awesome.  They have had good reviews in social media.
Yupp, first of all, the boss was super friendly and very generous. He scoops a generous helping of nasi lemak and you can go ahead and choose what you want to go with your rice.
They have a wide selection of chicken, beef, squid and grilled brinjals, also a variety of noodles.
What a great Malaysian breakfast to start off the day!

Kuala Lumpur - Changkat - Alor

Today. I saw this building and I was rolling in laughter!

It has been 9 days since we landed in Kuala Lumpur. The weather in KL has been trying to murder us. After all our grumbles it decided to rain on us today! We got to stroll around after the rain and ended up around Alor Street and Changkat Street.

This Bund Shanghai building is located around Changkat Street. Why in the world would anyone name this building as such?

I have been enjoying views from the 22nd floor of our apartment. It is fun to look at a place that I know quite well but figure out roads from high above. Somehow buildings and roads look so much nearer from up here!
The Exchange 106

Was developed for international business and finance. This skyscraper is a 95 floor building topped with a 12 story high 'crown'. Exchange 106 is located in the heart of Tun Razak Exchange or TRX; a new financial district. I believe this tower is completed but the financial district around it is still under construction.

Alor "Food" Street

This is Changkat. It is a street filled with restaurants and bars on both sides.
Opium Restaurant looked like another Shanghainese decorated restaurant
but if you check the menu, it serves a fusion of food including Malay cuisine!

Walked towards our apartment along Nagasari Street. Needed dinner bad!
I visited No Black Tie many many moons ago.
I wonder whether it is just closed for tonight or it has closed down for good.
It was a pretty neat jazz bar.
Ended up having dinner here as it is just next door to our apartment building!
