Paramount Theatre - Hadestown

Paramount Theatre, Seattle

Its grand opening was in 1 March, 1928.

Originally known as the Seattle Theatre, it was a silent movie and vaudeville house. Vaudeville refers to entertainment of specialty acts such as burlesque comedy song and dance.

The interior was decorated in the Beaux Arts style of the palace of Versailles; posh, dramatic and grand.

Hadestown:

We were at Paramount to watch Hadestown, a musical by Anaïs Mitchell. It is an ancient Greek myth of lovers Orpheus and Eurydice. Hardship breeds doubts and Eurydice unknowingly signs away her soul to Hades. Armed with love and music, Orpheus went to hell to save the love of his life.

Fall City Wallaby Ranch

Wallaby Ranch, Fall City

We were required to make a reservation for the tour. No walk - ins will be entertained. So I called to make a reservation for 12 Noon. We arrived 15 mins earlier and it was quite an unpleasant experience. First, the entrance to this ranch was not clear; it was a downhill road in between 2 residences. I finally saw a small signboard on a pole or a tree ( I don't remember!). Drove downhill and in between tall green trees and arrived at a small parking lot. There was a barn but it's closed. Still quite doubtful but we waited. Finally a man (the boss, I guessed) drove by, said hi, asked us to wait and he went into the barn. This is certainly not a place to be early for your appointment. You just have to wait in your car for the barn to open. Fees are collected after the tour, USD20 per person.

A video presentation detailing the birth of a roo.

Things learnt:

Baby kangaroos are the size of a jelly bean when born.

They have to climb into their mother's pouch to suckle for milk.

Kangaroos use their tail to stay grounded, otherwise they would tip over.

That's me kissing a standing kangaroo. Very soft fur!

Fall City

Fall City

Nestled in the heart of the Snoqualmie Valley. The town is right beside the Snoqualmie River. A small rural cozy town indeed.

The Raging River Cafe is a fabulous cafe in Fall City. The menu was amazing.
