Jinbaoli Old Street

Some call it Jinbaoli Old Street. Some call it Jinshan Old Street. I called it YUMMY old street!

Even though it was a rainy day which irritated the daylights outta me, I must say this old street is a pleasant one filled with yummy surprises. Local delicacies can be found right here. There are pastries, cakes, sweets, snacks, fruits and even duck meat!

The area near this street used to be known as Jinbaoli, which was the original settlement of a Taiwanese aboriginal tribe named Jinbaolishe. There is an old temple in the middle of this street which is known as the Guangan Temple where the God, Tan Goan-Kong is worshipped. That is the exact spot you can find Jinshan duck meat being sold.

Durian Orchard

This was my first time seeing a durian orchard up close and personal.

Each time when I drive, Hubs would be the one who looks out for durian trees. And each time he shouts out, "There's durians!" there was no way I could hit the brakes on time.
This time I could. I did. Me iz a happy gal.

We just turned into Kampung Baru Sri Parit, Lukut. We have been to Lukut so many times but we were ignorant of this little town, which was just off the main road. If it was not for hunting down a pineapple farm believably located in the midst of the palm oil estate in the interior of this town, we would never have seen this beautiful durian orchard.

I photographed this durian orchard to my heart's content whilst letting the greedy mosquitoes feast on me! For once, the mozzies did not bother me although I knew I would suffer for the next 3 days. I had always wanted to experience and enjoy a durian orchard with lots of durians hanging from the trees. I got my wish.

The durian trees, up close

If you take a step and look at the whole farm, it actually looks a lot like the Mossy Forest in Cameron Highlands, without the fog, cool air and less dense!
