Lake Crescent

Lake Crescent

624 feet deep

5127 acre lake

One of the iconic destinations of the Olympic National Park

A glacier lake; glaciers during the last ice age carved a deep valley in the Olympic Mountains, where the Indian Creek flowed. The lake was created when after a massive landslide dammed the creek.

Two unique trout species can only be found here and nowhere else in the world. They are the Beardsley Trout (subspecies of the rainbow trout) and the Crescenti Trout (subspecies of the cutthroat trout).

Olympic National Park - Hurricane Ridge

Olympic National Park

About ONE MILLION acres of land

Park was established in 1938

This visitor center opens at 10AM. It has a nice souvenir shop in the ground floor and a nice little snack corner. We enjoyed having a sandwich and juice with the greatest view of the Olympic Mountains right in front of us.
