Rasa

Welcome to a little town named Rasa. Rasa means "Taste". This sleepy little town is situated in Hulu Selangor. Easily ignored and forgotten.

We came on Thaipusam day but was not expecting much festivities. However this town surprised us totally.

An old dilapidated cinema which was built in 1957.

Gotta peep in to see it for myself. Locked gates did not bother me at all.

Rasa is known to have SEVEN temples. Good God....every corner is a temple! This particular temple is 100 years old.

Thaipusam festivities. We followed the Kavadi carriers from downtown to an Indian temple.

I talked to the locals to find out where is the famous Tan Boon Chia mansion located. Tan was one influential tin miner in the early 1900s. The locals told me to walk across the railway tracks to the other side of the town and the mansion is there. OK, let's go!

The local people failed to tell me that the train comes by every few minutes! So imagine my face when we crossed the tracks and train whizzed by!!!!

Tan Boon Chia's mansion. The locals call it "The Ghost House". No ghosts when we were there! There were garden keepers who were living in shacks at the corner of the huge garden. They refused to let us in so there went my chance of ever meeting any ghost there.

Rasa is really an old and small town. Shops are so old, parts could fall off at any time. I believed those who are living there are mainly the old folks who just simply prefer a quiet life.
