Long ago, Bekok was a forest. Today it a little serene town. The entrance to Bekok is grand, metal arch and all. But, the drive in was a good 30 minutes. This quiet town surprised me. Not only did it house a Hakka Museum, the whole place was covered with colorful murals. It was also nice to watch the locals enjoying serenity (and heat!) in their own little world, chatting up a storm in the Hakka dialect, in the coffee shops.
Bekok is famous for its durian. I guess people would be flooding into Bekok for cheap but quality Musang Kings. There is a Sungai Bantang waterfall here and Bekok is the western entrance to the Endau-Rompin National Park. You may stay a night in Bekok and enjoy cycling around the town and be an early bird to try your hands on rubber tapping!
An old cinema named Panggong Union.
