The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures

When I visited this museum about 24 years ago, it was then known as Kansas City Toy and Miniature Museum. Today it is called The National Museum of Toys and Miniatures. Located in a bigger place and each item showcased beautifully.

The miniatures are located on the ground floor and each art work was simply astonishing. Each miniature is about 1 inch in size and they were designed so intricately. Almost impossible to achieve, really. You must watch the videos in the museum where they showed how certain pieces were crafted and painted by hand.

The toys are all on the first floor, together with toy houses. It was great to go down memory lane on toys that we used to know and play with. There were Barbie dolls, porcelain dolls, teddy bears, and even old board games.

MINIATURES

 Harpsichord

Can you believe these are only 1 inch tall?

 Just look at that chandelier!

 Architecture class

Every piece was just sooooo breathtaking and stunning. Every work of art I saw was my favorite but this "jewellery store" was my "favoritest"!!!! Look at the tiny pieces of jewellery. Look at the customers, especially the charming lady. Ahhhhh.....so so so elegantly done.

My kids were in the giant toy house! I thought it was cool that they could enter and sit on the sofas inside the house.

Did you know that the Teddy Bear was invented in honor of President Theodore Roosevelt? In !902, Teddy Roosevelt was on a hunting trip but refused to shoot a bear. So, a "teddy bear" was created in honor of him. That was how the teddy bear was born.
