Our favorite Orchid farm in Ulu Yam

First visit was in 2017.

Seeing it grow into a public place with a cafe and landscape was a joy. 

The only frustrating thing now is that no photography is allowed inside the air conditioned rooms where expensive potted orchids are placed. Of cos, some have destroyed the chance for others by being selfish and unkind to the flowers. There’s always a handful and that would result everybody to be punished. 

My only consolation was that having visited this farm since 2017, I have taken many many maaaaaany photographs of orchids! I was lucky to have that chance before.

Located in a small village of Ulu Yam

Kedondong fruit or Ambarella fruit

When I was a lil girl, Mom use to buy from the market and we would cut them up and dip in rojak sauce (spicy fruit dressing) and munch.

Now they call it Umbra juice or in Chinese, Sha li (沙梨). Some countries call it Golden Apples or Jew Plums. I will always call it KE-DON-DONG. To make the juice, just blend the fruit, sugar and water. It's usually served with a sour plum. This restaurant's Kedondong juice is really good, fresh and potent.

How it is that we have not driven out here since Jan 2022? Impossible. Yet, my photo album confirmed it. Hmm.

We still get the warm welcome that we loved it. And of cos, their Tom Yum Prawns in a Coconut still maintained its yumminess.

The Stories of Taman Tunku

The Stories of Taman Tunku

is really an apartment building, quaint and cozy, with its ground floor filled with cafes, restaurants, boutiques, services and a supermarket. 

I came because of this wall painted with books!

It reminded me of the Kansas City Library wall, painted with hardcovers. 

This wall of books is by the side of Kenny Hills Bakers.
