The Calla Lily is of magnificent beauty. Native to Southern Africa, this white beauty signifies wealth and purity.
These Callas were taken at the Desa Cattle Dairy Farm located at the foothills of Mount Kinabalu, Sabah. I paid a visit to the farm during the beginning of Chinese New Year, wanting say hello to the Moo- Moos there but my attention was diverted to the breath-taking lilies. So it was Bye Moo, Hello Calla!
Do you know it is a sacred flower in Egypt? They bloom in the mud and shine in darkness to remind people that no matter how bad something is, it will get better.
The modest rose put forth its thorn, the humble sheep a threat'ning horn; while the Lily white shall in love delight, nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright. (William Blake)
In Feng Shui, lilies carry peace and harmony among people. Therefore they are perfect in your work place.
In the Chinese culture, since today is the eve of Chap Goh Meh (Valentine's Day in the Lunar Calendar), lilies symbolize forever in love.
In the world of magic, lilies are associated with the moon, water, emotions, and love. They are used for protection and can keep away negativity and unwanted spirits. They are also useful for bringing in strength and harmony.
In the world of aromatherapy, these flowers are used to treat depression by introducing lighter emotions and creating a sense of security.
Faith is like a lily; lifted high and white. (Christina Rossetti)
Stars open among the lilies. Are you not blinded by such expressionless sirens? This is the silence of astounded souls. (Sylvia Plath)
Majesty, beauty and modesty
Bespeaks the flavor of a White Calla
Greatness in reflecting beautiful rays of the light of life
Elegance in slow dancing with flowing senses
And the humility in reminding all, the vision of the future
So that we move in gentility
Dignified in appearance and elegant in speech and manners
That the Calla's scent remains
As witness to your shadows, passion and dreams. (Jo-Ann Tan)
