Shanghai - Mooncake Festival Dinner

We were invited to dinner to celebrate the mooncake festival. Hosts were Mr & Mrs Wang from Chuansha. This was our gift for them; a box of 12 mooncakes with 4 flavors: Red Wine, Milk, Chocolate and Lotus.

Mr & Mrs Wang

Dinner was at their restaurant. Heard from Mrs Wang that the boss had prepped all the food for dinner by himself, throughout the day.
Scooping homemade herbal duck

Small shells. Gotta use a toothpick to dig it out and dip in soya sauce.

Century eggs
Crabs
There were 4 types of fish being served for dinner.
The above were small fried and drenched in sauce. There was also a single huge steamed fish (no photo).
Deep fried fish
Dragon head fish. Tasted like fish but texture was like tofu!
This dish was the scariest! Sea Anemone!!!
A type of sea creature cooked in soup.  The soup was fantastic but these babies..... they looked horrible, tasted not too bad, kinda like eating huge straw mushrooms.

This is an ugly Sea Anemone!!!
Beef balls
Duck's blood
Our table consisted of 7 couples including the hosts. It was a lively evening and food was great. Unfortunately, all of them spoke in Shanghainese so we couldn't join in their conversation. The hosts were generous and served red wine, beer and white wine. They were kind and understanding enough to let us leave early as everyone was drinking and smoking more than eating! Guess we ate the most!!!
A memorable dinner indeed.
