Alberta Art District

Alberta Art District, Northeast Portland

Graffiti everywhere!
Food and Street Art Gem of Portland. Plenty of International restaurants here which include Chinese, Nepalese, Mexican, Spanish, Japanese and American.

A lil History:

First developed by immigrants in the 1880s

Businesses started operations along this street in 1903.

Famous for gang violence during the 1960s to 1980s.

Started in 1996, the community cleaned up the street and turned Alberta Street into an Art Walk. Non profit organizations came in to lend a hand. Businesses were encouraged to show art. Gradually, this are became an art district.

Today, Alberta Street runs between Northeast 14th and Northeast 31st avenues with transects 4 of Portland's Northeast neighborhoods.

Wanting a quick bite so decided to try the wontons here. Heard the people speaking in Cantonese so I thought they were from Hong Kong. Chatted with the Chef and found out that they were from Zhongshan, a city in the Guangdong Province, near Macau.
No wonder wontons were tasty!
