Telaga Tujuh Serendah

The 7 Wells of Serendah or Telaga Tujuh Serendah

It is supposedly a historic site but not much information can be found about this place. It is believed that these 7 wells were built during the British Colonial Era for the town of Serendah. Those days, Serendah was prone to flooding and these wells helped control the flow of water into the dam.

It is a beautifully maintained place. Although it looks like a park but it is not. There are no toilets here. No other facilities.  Just a couple of gazebos for visitor to have a picnic or chill.

Several writers in Google wrote that "this is a dam with 7 sluices fed by 7 sink holes or spillways."

What does that mean?

It means that water from upstream will flow downwards into the wells. The water will flow into the wells and the wells will slow the flow of water before it flows out of the dam. (I think!) Therefore, it doesn't stress the dam out too much.

Sluice means a device to slow down the flow of water.

There are only 5 wells working while I was there. I could not imagine Sungai Serendah to be dangerous as it was calm when I saw it. I guessed if it rains or storms, then the river will act differently.
