Adam Lee is the founder of Lee’s Cocoa Farm at Tanjung Sepat, just about 20 mins drive from the town.
We had visited his chocolate shop in Tanjung Sepat town a few times but this was our first time visiing his farm. This was because we needed to make an appointment first before the visit and entrance fee was RM50 per pax. When we can’t walk in for a visit, I tend to dilly dally on the appointment making!!!
But, glad I got around doing it. We had a great tour. Learnt a lot from Adam. He is one great visionary when it comes to chocolate making.
First, learnt that CACAO is raw cocoa. After processed, it is known as COCOA!
Adam explaining about caring for the cacao trees. Cacao trees need shade therefore coconut trees are planted around them. Lots of challenges in caring for the trees and preventing predators like monkeys and squirrels in attacking the cacao pods.
From flower to fruit, it takes a duration of 6 months. There would be about 10K mini flowers in a tree but to harvest them, it looks like a huge pain to me.
Tried a Cacao fruit! OMG it taste like a sourish TARAP!!!
