Malaysia’s First Artisanal Collectibles Toys Fest.

The world of sofubi/sofuvi and alternative art toys. 

Yupp, see… at my age I am still learning about toys and living in KL, I get to attend all these interesting (and educational, to me) events. It is special for this particular fest because I went with 2 main purposes, to meet up with Hariken and Kenji. 

Sofubi/Sofuvi ~ soft vinyl toys, usually referred to Japanese collector figures. The figures are based on iconic Japanese franchises (e.g Ultraman, Godzilla), superheroes, folklore, or pop culture icons.

The colored names are from other countries, mostly Japan

Nextdoor to the old biscuit shop. They serve really good beef noodles. Broth is potent and tasty. Beef was in big chunks, tasty and tender.

Boss was a kind guy. He even asked me, “How’s the beef noodles? “ He said that he has curry noodles and pork noodless too, but curry noodles have been sold out. Wow, it was only noon when we were there. 

That’s the boss!!!

I was excited to visit this old biscuit shop but O M G, the boss was not at all friendly. In fact, it felt like he didn’t welcome walk ins! 

When he asked WHAT DO YOU WANT and I said I DON’T KNOW YET, I believed he was annoyed. 

Well how the hell would I know what I want if you don’t give me a few mins to find out what you have!!!!

Since he was just fierce looking and not quarrelsome, I stayed back and courageously what is this and what is that? Haha he actually answered my questions. 

So I decided to get a butter cake and a packet of lotus biscuits which looked like mooncakes. 

Then the boss suddenly said, “Go try the noodles next door”… WOW he can chat!!! Just not in a friendly way. Funny man.

Starfish Sea Coconut Soup

This mixture of herbs are the YUMMIEST I have ever tasted. Because of the starfish, I just used a chicken drumstick and carrot to boil the soup so as not to interfere too much with the original concoction. 

List of herbs:

Dried starfish

Dried figs

Dried sea coconut

Dried pear

Chinese Almonds

Ba wang hua ~ night blooming Cereus flower

Goji berries

Red dates

Polygonatum odoratum - fragrant Solomon’s seal

Awesome soup! 

I can imagine how my face looked like when I first saw this at the Chinese herb soup!!!

Starfish? 

I didn’t you can cook with it? Thought it’s poisonous!

Apparently this orange species can be used to cook.

So I asked the boss of the shop what should I use to boil this. He said boil like any other soup; with my choice of chicken or pork. Only thing I had to do, he adviced, was to scrap off the tiny bits from all of the starfish’s arms. 

Washed and scraped. All ready to boil. 

Gotta photograph this bunch as much as I could!!! Love the colors so much.
