Lata Kinjang Waterfalls

tallest waterfall in south east asia
Lata Kinjang Waterfalls is very obvious when you are driving on the North-South highway, heading North. It is on the hills on your right hand side. You surely will not miss it.

Apparent during the British Colonial period, Lata Kinjang was the habitat of barking deers which were known as "Kijang" in Malay. Guessed someone misspelt the name!

You need to enter the little town of Chenderiang to reach Lata Kinjang Waterfalls. In fact, the towns of Tapah, Temoh and Kampar are not too far away. In fact, we reached Chenderiang at about 10AM but to my shock, there was not much variety of food available in the shops, unlike what was reported in Google. Hmmmm. We walked around the 2 rows of shops in Chenderiang and was not happy with what they had to offer so we decided to drive to Kampar market to eat to our hearts' content. A hungry tummy is never happy!

Lata Kinjang Waterfalls is about 850m in height and is known to be the tallest waterfall in South East Asia. It is a spectacular sight, up-close.
This is the entrance to the park from Chenderiang town.
Pay your RM2 per person and RM2 for parking, and you may enter to park your car.

The lower cascades of the falls. Great for young kids as the water is gentle here.
Steps were provided for people to walk until the suspension bridge, which is half-way of the falls. Easy peasy. Just take a slow stroll up.

You may hike up to the top of the waterfall but there are no steps, just a muddy trail. Since there is an Orang Asli community living just next to the falls, I am sure these skillful forest people were the ones who casually created the trail to the top of the falls.

Tallest waterfall in Malaysia and South East Asia
This is the part before the suspension bridge. Beautiful, as everyone can sit around and enjoy the falls. And, of course snap snap snap at every angle.

Suspension bridge. Felt very much nearer to the rushing waters.

My knees were screaming," Stop now. We need to rest. A loooooooooooooooooooong rest."
850 metres of cascading waters that took our breath away. Glad we made a special trip to the falls. A majestic multi-tiered waterfall, it gives visitors satisfaction in viewing it as near as possible. We enjoyed the water vapors too as we were just inches away from the rushing waters.  Surprisingly today being a public holiday, it was not crazy crowded. Would be great to get a tan lying on the rocks while enjoying the falls.
