Centipede Temple

Wanna go explore a 140 year old Taoist temple on top of a 127 meter hill? C'mon...
Bukit Jong, Seremban
Ladies & Gentleman, this is Centipede Temple. Locally known as Then Sze Khoon. The old temple is halfway up the hill, on the right side but this new beauty sits proudly on top of Wu Gong Shan or Bukit Jong or Junk Hill.

Legend of the Centipede:
Once upon a time, there was a young man who left home to seek for fame and fortune. He returned home after being successful but he did not show gratitude and filial piety to his mom. God became angry and turned him into a ship made of rock, that could never sail, and set the ship on Wu Gong Hill. However, a centipede is always seen by or on top of the rock ship. People believed that this centipede was the reincarnation of the boy's mom. The centipede in the photo above was erected on the site where the rock ship was located.
Dragon welcomes you into the temple.

To reach to the top of the hill, there are 176 steps for you to climb. Whaddaya waiting for? Start walking!!!

This land used to be covered with rubber trees. Now it is a beautiful sanctuary. Apparently centipedes do roam in and out of this temple when the weather is cool. I did not see a single centipede when I was there! Visitors have claimed that they have spotted white centipedes before and that had brought them luck.
