Qibao Ancient Town during Chinese New Year 2021
We visited Qibao on the 2nd day of CNY and OMG....we went in, took a look and ran away!
Yes, everyone was wearing a mask and yes, there were no local Covid cases for some time now. Still, no point in looking for trouble. There were just too many people; many were right in our faces. There were pushing and nudging... just hate it when personal space is invaded!
We have been to Qibao a few times now as it is one of the nearest places to visit from our home. It is also a nice small cosy place as the ancient town is very near to a huge shopping mall and the metro station is right underneath the mall.
This is the first time we have ever seen such a horrendous crowd in Qibao. Look at the photo above: people queueing up to enter the ancient town. I guess it is because Shanghai residents were discouraged to travel during this festive period, therefore, everyone is in town.
The beautiful part about this visit was the early blooms of the plum blossom.
