Ban Po Thar
We finally climbed up this iconic 7 tier pagoda at the Kek Lok Si temple in Penang and enjoyed the view from 98 feet high.
The Pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas @ Ban Po Thar (in Hokkien dialect).
Its official name is Pagoda of Rama VI as the Thai monarch laid the foundation stone.
Completed in 1927.
The pagoda houses Theravada and Mahayana Buddhism symbols.
Theravada Buddhism is common in Sri Lanka, Thailand, Miramar, and Laos.
Mahayana Buddhism is found in Tibet, China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, and Mongolia. It includes Japanese Zen, Chinese, Tibetan, Korean and Vietnamese Buddhism.

The entrance to the pagoda was pretty mysterious. We searched for a bit and realized that the staircase was at the back of the huge golden Buddha below!
