The Roman Baths, Abbey Churchyard
The first shrine on this site was built by an Iron Age Tribe named Dobunni, who dedicated it to the Goddess Sulis who had healing powers. In 43 AD, British was invaded by the Romans. Later in 75 AD, they built a religious spa and named it Aquae Sulis @ the waters of Sulis.
The baths used hot mineral water from limestone beneath the city. People from all over the country came to bathe and worship at the temple.
Then in the 17th century, doctors believed that the thermal waters could cure internal illnesses and diseases. The first Pump Room was created in 1706 to allow the sick to gain direct access to the waters. Today is it a beautiful restaurant.

I was unhappy when we reached Bath. It was raining and we were all tired. Not in the mood for much. Worse of all, could not take good photos.
