Elbe

Cute little Elbe, Washington

We passed this little town on our way to Mount Rainier National Park. I was like... "I saw this in Google" and hit the brakes! Elbe was very attractive with colorful trains from the entrance to the town until the end of the street. However, this town is so small, we only saw a post office, a store, a pizza place, a church, a workshop, an inn and a railroad depot. That’s it!
Founded in 1890, Elbe was originally known as Brown’s Junction. German homesteaders settled there.
Guess what? A real life Polar Express Train Ride comes to life in Elbe from mid November to the end of December annually. It is a 90 minute roundtrip experience where passengers will be entertained with hot chocolate and cookies, and Santa… and yes, you may wear pajamas for the ride!

Elbe Lutheran Church is "Ev. Luth. KIRCHE" (Evangelische Lutherische Kirche), a reminder of the founders' German origins. This is a tiny 18 by 24 foot church and Worship is only on every 3rd Sunday of the month from March to November.
