Orca Watching

Maya's Legacy Whale Watching, Friday Harbor

We chose Maya because of its small group. It was a beautiful day but we were not so lucky in terms of watching the ocean life. It's all up to luck I guess and the timings of the orcas and whales. In addition, if you do not have the proper photography equipment, no point trying to take photos or videos because the sea creatures are too fast in movement. We saw glimpses of a Humpback whale, quite a distance away. We saw some orcas but far away. We tried spotting bad eagles but it was not easy. We did many a whole of sea lions basking in the sun though!

The tour took about 3 hours, with Captain Jeff and April. They are very knowledgeable about spots to go and were always in contact with the other boats around. Lucky for all of us, April was generous enough to share shots she had taken with her camera during our tour.

Did you spot Mr. Bald Eagle?

The Orca shots were taken by April from Maya during our tour!
