Chinatown Cultural Walk

We actually waited for a good 2 weeks to join this walk. The wait was worth it. It was a memorable and educational experience for us.

This is the oldest Sikh Temple for the Sikh Police Force.

Many Sikhs were brought over to Malaya from India during the British colonial era to serve as police, soldiers and guards.

Petaling Hill

Where Merdeka 118 stands today, on what used to be the old Merdeka Park.

Formerly, the old guild hall of the Selangor and Federal Territory Laundry Association
Today, this is a Peranakan restaurant that serves Baba Nyonya cuisine.

These are sheltered walkways, usually found in front of old Colonial shophouses.

Madras Cinema

Madras Cinema was the earliest movie house in Kuala Lumpur, ran by the Shaw Brothers. It was believed to be haunted! It was burnt down in 1978 and until today, it remained as a parking lot.

Originally, this was the former holiday residence of Yap Kwan Seng, the 5th and last Kapitan of KL

Then it was Lee Rubber Building in 1930
