I saw the mural then I saw auntie then it was left and right for 3 times before I asked, “Is that you on the wall, Auntie?”
And it was a friendly chat from then on!
Auntie Fung Kui Moi ( unsure about the spelling but that was the name she gave us in Hakka) is 78 years old. She has been selling coconut juice for 50 years on this spot.
She started off selling sugar cane juice.
We bought a coconut from her for RM5 while listening to her stories.
Her mom had 21 babies!!! Yuppp and she was No. 7. It was all because mom wanted a son. So she tried year after year. Got 16 baby girls at first. No. 17 was a boy! And 4 boys thereafter. Phew!!!
She said so scary to go back home during Chinese New Year. How many ang pau packets that needed to be prepared?
