Taman Rekreasi Paya Bakau Kampung Sijangkang

In we go!!!

Taman Rekreasi Paya Bakau Kampung Sijangkang,
Teluk Panglima Garang

Mangrove Park Sijangkang

Kampung Sijangkang is originally a Javanese - Malay village that existed since the 1900s.

"Sijangkang" came from Stilt-root trees (pokok jangkang); as in mangrove trees with stilt roots.

There is a boardwalk from the entrance straight to Sungai Langat, which was about 800 meters (1/2 mile) long.

Entrance to this green natural mangrove swamp is RM2.

We were there on an early Sunday afternoon. To my astonishment there was not a soul around. I thought this place was abandoned. Nope! In fact, there are a consistent flow of private companies and schools coming in to do their community work here; to plant mangrove trees. There are company signages left on the plot they had worked on with dates as well. What a wonderful way to keep this park alive!

Trees had their own signages, names and codes to scan for further information

I see you! You see me!!!

Not advisable to run. The boardwalk was steady by certain parts were not even.

Yaaaaa right! Among the gazillion mozzies!!!

Monkeys here are shy or scared of people. They saw us coming and they would slowly walk away. We were given sticks at the entrance just so we could protect ourselves or hit whatever, if needed.

Nursery where the mangrove trees are kept for groups to buy for planting.

A little information booth
