Sam Kan Chong Noodles
Jinjang Utara
History: “Sam kan cheong” (cantonese) refers to 3 adjacent shophouses in Jalan Silang KL in the olden days when the first pork “ball” and sausage noodle stall was started by a Chinese immigrant. The “balls” are in inverted commas because they do not look like balls! They look rectangular and stuck to each other.
Today, a Sam Kan Chong bowl of noodles consist of noodles topped with minced pork and bbq pork sausage (siew cheong) served with a bowl of soup with pork balls. Sausage are made of pork, lard and liver.
Jinjang is well known for sam kan chong noodles as one of the original descendants from the original stall started their “siew cheong” and pork balls factory there. They actually supply the unique shaped pork “balls” to all over Klang Valley.
I loved these “connected” pork rectagular “balls” ever since young. Now, I know where they came from!
And… there’s an Ipoh chicken & taugeh stall in their shop in Jinjang. Oooooh nice representation from Ipoh. Yummmmmmm!
