Rainbow Waterfall, Sungai Lembing

The Rainbow Waterfall was a dream and it was a exhausting victory for us last Sunday morning.

We were ready by 5.30 AM. Our tour driver picked us up and another 10 people in his modified Hilux, and we were off for breakfast. By 7 AM, we were off.

First stop was to see the sun rise. Unfortunately, last Sunday morning was foggy. I was highly skeptical in seeing a rainbow that morning. Hope won.

We arrived at the foothills of the waterfall at about 8 AM. It was an hour's hike for us to reach to the top. We took it slow because it was more tedious than we had expected. The ground was muddy from last night's rain. We had to walk across gushing waters of the waterfall and on slippery rocks. In addition, we had to have patience because the young people had no patience walking behind us!

Fog surrounded us. It was a painful and wet wait for the sun to appear. I kept looking at the clouds to clear. I was praying for spots of blue in the sky. And... at 10.15 AM, the sun made her grand entrance. Twice, actually. For only 10 seconds respectively and poof, she was gone. There was frustration. There was gratefulness. There was joy. Most important of all was VICTORY.

We saw a rainbow. Not a perfect one, but one by the rocks and one in the water!
5.30 AM
A little friend waited along with me.
Breakfast at the market. Sungai Lembing's famous tofu (I can have this on a daily basis; it is just SOOOOO GOOD) and curry yong tau foo.

The ride to watch the sun rise
Too foggy of a morning. Not a peep from the sun.

Off to the waterfall
When I read blogs and reviews about this hike, nothing was mentioned about this bridge. People used to have to cross the river by foot. I was grateful for the bridge. This bridge was built for a good 4 years already.

The hike begins here

Muddy trails

Looking for the sun

1 KM more to walk!

Climbing

These huge steps are not friendly to my short legs!

Almost there

This is the start of walking across gushing waters and on slippery rocks.

Yupp, gotta find your way across these huge .....
Still found time to take photos of the pretty flowers

Our first glimpse of the waterfall. I stopped dead at my tracks!

Just WOW! The fog made it looked as though the water was falling from the sky!

The sun finally made her grand entrance

The rainbow is a symbol of peace and serenity. This rainbow will always remind me of endurance through foggy times. It will be my constant reminder of hope and motivation in life.
