Wonder Farm Mushroom

Let's turn to the right and go see how mushrooms grow!
This little a small but very productive family 'farm' located in Taiping.
This is the factory whereby the compost bags are created for the mushrooms to grow before they are sent to their respective greenhouses.

WHITE AND GREY OYSTER MUSHROOMS

Ida, our tour guide, is a wonderful guide who was able to explain to us in detail how each type of mushroom is being cultivated. She was showing us the spores of the oyster mushroom via the light from the mobile phone.
Oyster mushrooms are rich in protein, plentiful in B vitamins and no cholesterol. Yummy when cooked with garlic alone or mixed with other vegetables.

REISHI (LINGZHI) MUSHROOMS: DEER-HORNS & GANODERMA

Every greenhouse is for a particular type of mushrooms. We are going to enter the Lingzhi mushroom greenhouse.
Deer-horns are used for cancer, aging, boosting immune systems or to treat infections.

MONKEY HEAD MUSHROOMS

They are known as monkey head mushrooms in China but lion's mane mushrooms in the US. It looks like cauliflower to me but to my surprised, when they are packed, they are furry!

BLACK JELLY (BLACK FUNGUS) MUSHROOMS

Also known as cloud ear fungus or tree ear fungus, it is eaten to reduce cholesterol, to protect your liver and to boost gut health. It is packed with fiber and antioxidants.
Notice below that the black fungus mushroom do not grow from the mouth of the bag, but at the side. This is because, in its natural circumstance, it thrives in humid climates and grows on tree trunks and fallen logs.

TIGER MILK (SUSU HARIMAU) MUSHROOMS

According to Malaysian aboriginal folklore, this mushroom was grown where a tigress dropped its milk while feeding her cubs. Hence the name, tiger milk.
Unlike the other mushrooms, tiger milk mushroom can only be found one stalk at a time.
The medicinal values of a tiger milk mushroom are located only in its sclerotium. It has healing properties on more than 15 medical ailments which include cough, asthma, bronchitis and eczema.

These are tiger milk mushroom cookies which are just simply fabulously DELICIOUS!
