Nanjing - Purple Mountain

Purple Mountain

Zijin Shan

Zhongshan National Park

This mountain national park is humongous. Really. It covers a good 12 square miles. It consists of 4 major scenic areas - Dr. Sun Yat Sen's Mausoleum, the Ming Tombs (Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum) , the Linggu Scenic Area, and the Toutuo Ridge scenic area.

We really needed 2 days to cover all of these scenic spots. And only when we were there, we realized that each major scenic area has its own grand entrance.

We bought cable car tickets to go up the peak of Purple Mountain

Saw an old couple doing 'bear walk' exercise
We should have visited some scenic spots around the peak of Purple Mountain and go back down via the cable car, then visit another major scenic area via car. But we did not.

We actually walked allllllll the way to Dr. Sun Yat Sen's Mausoleum, which was about 2km away, crossing a forest. I almost died!

Our walk began to the famous mausoleum

We reached this point where the sign showed us that there's another 1.5km to Dr. Sun Yat Sen's Mausoleum. Oh dear....

Finally reached the roads. Easier to walk here. This was the way to Dr. Sun Yat Sen's academy and thereafter his mausoleum.

We did it! We reached the grounds of Dr. Sun Yat Sen's Mausoleum!
