Nanjing Confucius Temple
南京夫子庙 Nánjīng fūzǐ miào
Located in the Qinhuai Scenic Area. This temple is a place to worship Confucius, a philosopher and educator of ancient China. The temple was originally built in AD 1034 during the Song Dynasty but was burnt down during WWII. This place of worship was rebuilt featuring architecture from Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Right across to this temple is the famous Qinhuai River.
Drawings of Confucius Saint Deeds
These carved paintings were made from colored chicken blood stones. shoushan stones, green jadite, Zhoucun bacon stones and other precious stones from Shandong, Henan, Liaoning, Fujian and Zhejiang provinces.
The Sage of Heaven
According to legend, when Confucius was born, his mother heard music from heaven as well as whispers of these words, "Merry music falls because of the baby is a sage from heaven."
