Nanjing - Xuanwu Lake

Xuanwu Lake

This main entrance to the lake is also a gate of the Ming City Wall.

The largest imperial lake garden in China's history. This 472-hectare of park land is located at the foot of Purple Mountain. It has a coastline circumference of about 15 kilometers. It contains 5 islets across the lake.

Ring Isle is the outer isle with Chinese parasol trees by the road.

Cherry Isle is embraced by Ring Isle and it is filled with cherry trees.

Liang Isle was named after Zhao Ming, crown prince of the Liang Dynasty. It is famous for autumn Chrysanthemums. When we were there, the Coffee Festival was also exhibited in this isle.

Water Chestnut Isle got its name from chestnuts being grown in the pond.

Green Isle is all about trees and tranquility.

It would be great to stay at one of the hotels just by this Xuanwu Lake and walk over to spend time here and not worry about getting transport. I would need 2 days to cover the whole park!
