The late Venerable Master Hsing Yun (1927 - 2023)

FGS Dong Zen Temple, Jenjarom
佛光山东禅寺 (Fóguāng shāndōng chán sì)
I was captivated with this statue of Master Hsing Yun. Could not help but stood as close as I was allowed to, and stared. Stared at every inch of his head. What fine workmanship. So very real.
The late Master Hsing Yun was a Chinese Buddhist monk based in Taiwan. He was the founder of the FGS International Buddhist Order, headquartered in Taiwan.
We decided to visit Dong Zen Temple one weekend, as the Ghost Month was about to end. Wanted to see how it is on a normal day and wanted to check up on its Lantern and Floral dates for 2024. This temple is 16 acres huge with a restaurant, giant statues, an outdoor floral garden, praying and meditation halls, exhibition halls and an institute for Buddhist studies. As you enter its main entrance, you will see a gallery which tells you the story of the late Master Hsing Yun and his life story.
