St. Mary’s Cathedral, Kuala Lumpur
The original church was a wooden one located on Bluff Road (today known as Bukit Aman). Consecreted by Rt Rev George Hose, Bishop of Singapore, Labuan and Sarawak, in 1887.
1895, the same Bishop George Hose consecreted this new church which is located next to Dataran Merdeka; still standing strong today!
1983, St. Mary’s Church was proclaimed the Cathedral Church of St. Mary the Virgin.
I didn’t even notice there was a church right in the heart of downtown, right next to Dataran Merdeka until we decided to walk around KL last Merdeka Day. Good Lord! A historical church and such a beautiful one too.
They even have Iban services!
