The lake is nestling beneath the Bogda Peak, the tallest peak in the east of Tian Shan mountains.

It was a good hour’s drive from our hotel. Then take the park bus for another 30 minutes via a windy road uphill. Then walk another 10 mins to the lake.
This is my first time having to drive uphill to view a lake! The lake is 1907m above sea level.
