Rose - The Flower of Love

The rose...most popular flower in the world...symbolizing love and beauty. People always associate the rose with love because it speaks of love silently, in a language known only to the heart.

Greek mythology tells us that it was Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love, who gave the rose its name but it's actually the Goddess of Flowers, Chloris, who created it. Here's the story:
One day while Chloris was cleaning in the forest she found the lifeless body of a beautiful nymph. To right this wrong Chloris enlisted the help of Aphrodite who gave her beauty; then called upon Dionysus, the God of Wine, who added nectar to give her a sweet scent. When it was their turn the three Graces gave Chloris charm, brightness and joy. Then Zephyr, the West Wind, blew away the clouds so that Apollo, the Sun God, could shine and make the flower bloom. Hence...the rose was born.

The rose knows of our love, dreams, desires...
Our love is like a rose. Starts as a seed and slowly grows. With each passing breath, the roots grow deep into our hearts. Delicate petals begin to form. And thorns start to surround it, protecting fiercely. Though...we fail to see the thorns as the care and love in our hearts always soften them. When the rose grows old and withers...the time we spent loving, caring, protecting is here to stay.
I am not a big fan of roses, but I love the white rose dearly. The white rose to me symbolizes the purity of friendship; new and humble beginnings. Friends are our life. Friendship always starts out simple and sweet. Some may come and go, but a few will remain true to our hearts. Life's rare treasures....

A simple rose can be my garden...a single friend, my world. (Leo Buscaglia)
