River of Life

The River of Life is a project that was intended to breathe new life into the city centre of Kuala Lumpur.  Its main focus was to revive polluted rivers and transform the city centre into a vibrant hub for visitors. This project involves river cleaning, beautification and development.
Kuala Lumpur was founded around 1857 at the confluence of the Gombak River (right) and the Klang River (left). Kuala Lumpur literally means 'muddy confluence'. Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, began in the middle of the 19th century with the rise of the mining industry and rubber plantations in the state of Selangor.  The venture into this muddy confluence of 2 rivers came about when tin prospectors wanted to open tin mines in the Klang Valley.

Chatted with this fella from America. He is from Colorado and he visits Malaysia once every few years. He said he loves visiting this country, however, his tummy could not stand the Malaysian spicy food. Lucky for him, we have McDonald's and Burger King for him to get by in Malaysia!
