Cotton tree or Kapok tree
We were driving from Bagan Datoh heading towards Sekinchan when I saw this rich cotton tree. I hit the brakes and parked the car by the side of the road, wanting to take some photos. Some of the vehicles were driving so fast that I felt as though I could have been blown away by the gust of wind. Kinda scary when I see a sports car or a lorry heading my direction!
Malaysia do not produce cotton, yet, this village tree can be found scattered around the interiors of Malaysia. The cotton-like fluff from seed pods are known as kapok in Malaysia. It is used to stuff pillows and mattresses.
