Beijing - Forbidden City - Stamp Exhibition

Current Exhibition in the Forbidden City - Palace Museum:

The Palace Heritage in Stamps: Special exhibition on the theme of Palace Museum
"Culture is the lifeline of a nation, and stamps are 'name cards' of a country. As a 'miniature encyclopedia' of Chinese civilization and an 'exhibition hall' for Chinese society in the new era, they play a significant role in promoting the national spirit, spreading Chinese culture, and presenting China's stories and voices to the world.

The exhibition consists of 4 sections: 'My Motherland', 'The Forbidden City', 'Museum Collections' and 'International Communication'. It showcases both the postage stamps themed on the Palace Museum issued after the founding of the People's Republic of China and the items in the collection of the Palace Museum that those stamps depict. This hall was known as the Hall for Abstinence. It was built in 1731. In the Qing Dynasty, the emperor would practice abstinence in this hall before going to temples in the suburbs to hold sacrificial ceremonies. During the abstinence period, the emperor would not eat meat, drink alcohol, make merry, or impose punishments.
