Entrance to Jiuzhaigou or Jiuzhai Valley National Park
Jiuzhaigou 九寨沟
Home to 9 Tibetan villages. There's about 110 families living around here. The families are Tibetan and speak the Tibetan language; different to the Lhasa and Amdo Tibetan dialect of the grasslands.
Juizhaigou covers about 72,000 hectares in the northern part of Sichuan Province. It is a currently a protected national park.
Five Flower Lake
Most spectacular lake in Jiuzhaigou with a depth of 16 feet. It is known as a sacred lake to the locals. Apparently this lake does not freeze in winter because there is an underwater hot spring that flows into the lake.
A croissant break by the lake
Pearl Shoal Waterfall
Beautiful waterfall
" A Ms7.0 earthquake struck Juizhaigou on 8 August, 2017. The quake resulted in a high-level landslide and this boulder, originally at an altitude of 2654 meters, fell 272 meters into the valley."
