It was a beautiful sunny Sunday and we wanted to visit the Christkindlmarkt of Shanghai. The location chosen is beautiful too because it is at the right left of The Bund so after visiting the German Christmas Market, one can take a stroll along the Bund.
Shanghai Union Church 上海新天安堂
A former Protestant church. Built in 1885 in a Gothic style. It is the only surviving waterside church in downtown Shanghai. It was easier for Chinese Christians to travel from neighboring provinces by boat to the church. Designed and built by a British architect named Dowdall alongside Suzhou Creek. Today, the church's address is 107 Suzhou Road.
This German Christmas Market is only one of Shanghai's MANY Christmas markets but I am excited enough to look forward to German delicacies, handicraft, mulled wine, beer, eggnog and roasted almonds....among many other exciting surprises at the market.
