Shanghai - Qibao Water Town

Food Court at Qibao Metro Station

Travelling from Pudong to Qibao is pretty near. From Line 13 (our home line), we just need to stop at Madang Station and change to Line 9 to Qibao Station. That's it!

Qibao station is really nice, huge and filled with stores, a supermarket and lots of eateries. Its food court is huge enough for you to eat til you drop! We loved the stinky tofu at this food court...crispy and yummy.

Fried rice
Sheng Jian Bao - Pan fried pork buns
After filling our tummies, time to walk!
There's a small sign informing visitors that Qibao Water Town is to the right!
Walk all the way to the end of the road and you will come to a T-junction, and this signboard. Turn left!

There it is! The entrance to Qibao Water Town or Qibao Ancient Town.
Qibao Water Town 七宝老街

Some locals call it Qibao Ancient Town. Well it is one of Shanghai's famous water towns and it is ancient! Believed to have started since the Northern Song Dynasty, this town has been preserved through Ming and Qing Dynasties.
Qibao means Seven Treasures in Chinese.

We are in Minhang District of Shanghai at the moment. The road towards Qibao is already an exciting one with boutiques left and right. Qibao, I believe, is a smaller water town compared to the rest, but do not let that mislead you. It is a good sized water town with plenty of restaurants, shops, boutiques, and a food street.

Crossing the Puhuitang Bridge into what I call "Food Street"

The Puhui River is sorry-looking. People are fishing here!

Food Street is simply awesome!
