Shanghai - Caoxi Park

Cabao Station Line 12. Walked North (left) from metro station and the park is across the road after about 1/2 mile.
Caoxi Park

This park is well known to have the oldest peony gardens in Shanghai. These peonies are from 100 - 120 years old, God knows how they survived!!!, but they are very well protected.
This garden was known as Caojia Garden or the Cao Family Garden and Tomb in the 1930s. Cao was a cotton merchant in Shanghai back then. The cemetery is located on the east of the garden. It is about 8 acres in size; the smallest park we have visited in Shanghai. It is an old Chinese styled garden but nicely maintained. Entrance is free.

Still, visitors tried and walked onto the patches to get closer shots. Security guards were at every corner. They did not hesitate to yell at the stubborn photographers to get off the soil.
