Xinchang Historical and Cultural Hall
"Xinchang was called Shisuntan (Stalagmite Beach) and Shisun Li (Stalagmite Neighbourhood) in ancient days. It sits in the southwest of Nanhui District, with a population of 15 thousand and an area of developed from here, as an old saying of the Ming Dynasty goes 'Xinchang comes the second known of the 18 towns of Pudong. No other comes the best.' In the folk culture, Xinchang was better than Suzhou for its elegantly decorated archway.
Xinchang Historical and Cultural Exhibition Hall endows us with an elaborate introduction about Xinchang's historical evolvement and development. It offers us not only a basis of further understanding the past, recognizing the reality and exploring the future, but also a history textbook of loving the motherland and hometown."
The entrance to the hall. We did not get to visit the inside of the hall as the crowd was horrendous. Maybe next time! But, we enjoyed the small garden at the entrance.
Hardly readable but I tried!
