Bera Lake @ Tasik Bera

Off to Bera Lake! It was a spontaneous decision as we approached Bera Town. Since we are already here, why not? The narrow road that led us into Bera Lake was quite a roller coaster ride. It was not well maintained and weeds were spreading fast on both sides. I was expecting a snake to come flying out at us!!!

Bera Lake is Malaysia's largest natural freshwater lake. Apparently there is a village of Semelai people nearby. They call themselves The Lake People. I would have loved to visit their village and have a chat with them.
This is the entrance to the jetty.

There used to be a resort right here but guess it didn't do well. It closed in 2015 for "major renovation" and was never re-opened again. Google paints a whole different scenario though as articles and stories were uploaded before 2015. Bera Lake used to be full of life. There were lake tours, river cruises and visit to the nearby Orang Asli villages. It is still and dead today.

The lake becomes a fishing spot for the locals and the whole resort is empty now.  Such a waste.

The jetty

If you look closely, on the top right there is a red spot. That is actually a lady sitting on the ground fishing with newspaper covering her head!

So beautiful yet so dead

The chalets looked comfy and they looked as though they are still in good condition. If only the state kept it alive and running. If only...

Walking back to the car park.
