Kota Bharu 1

We had minor complications when we arrived in Kota Bharu. Our booked accommodation was not what we had expected, in fact, I was not pleased at all. I had to find another place to stay at the last minute, calmly and quickly! Lucky for us we found a nice-enough and clean-enough place to stay a night.

A friend of Hubs met us for coffee and dinner, which made our arrival pleasant after all.

Dinner place
Dinner was MMMWWWWAAAAAHHHHHH!!! Just at a simple kopitiam by the road. Chef was awesome. Every dish felt home cooked and super tasty.

Next day was a new beginning to see Kota Bharu with a different light and hopefully with happier spirits. We started roaming around as KB is really pretty historic and main attractions were right downtown.

 View from our studio apartment

We decided to walk from our studio apartment to check downtown out.

 Muhammadi Mosque.
Built in 1867 by Sultan Muhammad II.
 Sultan Ismail Petra Arch
Comprising a double gateway, this arch was erected to commemorate KB as a cultural city in the 1990s.

 Memorial Perang (Bank Kerapu)

Bank Kerapu means bank with a rough surface. Built in 1912, it originally housed the Merchantile Bank of India. It was the first bank operated in Kelantan. Today, it is a war museum and a historical building.  Next to it, there are war artifacts on the grounds.

 Tambatan D'Raja @ Royal Pier

This pier is where the locals come by to check out the water level when it storms non-stop.

150 metres observation tower by the Kelantan river
 Beautiful murals

Famous for its Nasi Kerabu

We took a light breakfast and WAITED for the Nasi Kerabu!!!

I took a picture of this plate as I had the same exact ones at home! Was tickled to see it so far away from home.
Nasi Kerabu is in the house!!!!

This is the Makcik who cooks the Nasi Kerabu
It was worthwhile waiting for the glorious Nasi Kerabu. Thank you Makcik.
Went batik hunting!
