Tangkak Revisited

We decided to revisit Tangkak again due to the rainy weather we are experiencing at the moment. It would be bright and sunny in the morning, then after 2 PM, skies would darken. All this while, we usually visit Tangkak for her Beef Noodles and her cookies. Have not really explored her that thoroughly, except for Gunung Ledang @ Mount Ophir.... well, that's another story to share!

Anyhow, we had a rather fruitful visit to Tangkak this time, minus the beef noodles! I checked and found out that there were more well known food that we should try. So here we are, at Tangkak @ Fabric Town @ Textile Heaven. Tangkak genuinely have a lot of textile shops, everywhere. Back lanes. By the main roads. Side lanes. I loved the fact that along the main road, one could actually see a fruit shop sandwiched between 2 textile shops!!!

I guess fruits and textile are best of friends in Tangkak!

Ooooh, the sun was on my eyes! Just wanted to show you that some textile shops are huge!
Eng Choon association belongs to the Hokkien clan
I loved this 1948 old coffee shop. It stood out so attractively among the other shops.

WHAT is going on??? Goodness....everyone has run out of biscuits and cookies? Nope nope nope! We are not going anywhere near there, for now.

Wat Piyaram, a Siamese temple in Tangkak.
It's location is unique, it is situated behind a small little forest. The temple could not be seen from the road. Unfortunately, it was closed when we reached the temple :(

 Gunung Ledang @ Mount Ophir

First visit, we managed to climb a little and we were caught in the rain.

Second visit, it was closed to the public.

What luck!

This mountain has a major role in the Malay cultural history. It is famous for its captivating fairy tale of a Sultan of Malacca who wanted to marry the Princess of Mount Ophir @ Puteri Gunung Ledang. She turned him down with 7 impossible requests!!!

Back to hunting for food!!!
Decided to visit a Kerepek @ Chips store. A lovely store indeed. The boss was real friendly and he kept asking us to try try try the samples! Their homemade chips are fresh and crispy.

 A few different packings

 Macaroni chips
Spicy meat floss
They even had cookies for sale too.
We then visited the Everlasting Food Industries (Brown Rice Factory). I did not know we actually have our own brown rice factory and oh my, they have come up with so many products from brown rice. Impressive!
Brown rice crackers
Brown rice crispy balls, but in several flavors
 Brown rice coffee

They even have birds nest!

Jia Jia Bak Kut Teh
 Bak Kut Teh was fabulous!

Their Pork Trotters in Sweetened Vinegar was SUPERB!

 YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!

Dry Bak Kut Teh was equally awesome. Spicy and so tasty!
Tried another well known coffee shop

Plain soupy kueh (kinda like a thicker version of pan mee)

Tom Yum Kueh

Hakka Noodles

Then it started to pour! Sigh...

Time to go home!
