A walk around Bergen

We were having lunch in this wonderful Bryggeloftet restaurant and the sky suddenly cleared up a bit. Some blue in the sky appeared. I got excited because we had been walking around rainy Bergen for the past 2 days. It was miserable.

Was chatting with a staff in the restaurant about their paintings on the wall. Saw a painting with some wooden houses on the water. He said they were very nearby, at a neighborhood named Skuteviken. He showed me on the map how to get to it. I was again excited. 18th century Norwegian wooden houses are still around.

See the blue sky!

Rothaugen Skole

The building on top of the hill is a private school named Rothaugen.

Ludvig Holberg (1684 - 1784) ~ Baron of Holberg

Bergen’s very own Father of Modern Danish and Norwegian literature. He was a writer, essayist, philosopher, historian and playwright.

Fish market

Our hotel - Hordaheiman

Location is quite near the fish market and the Galleriet shopping mall. However, it is not a comfy hotel. They squeezed 3 beds into a small room. We hardly have space to walk after trying to laid our bags down.

This was the first time we walked into an empty hotel; empty reception area. It sure felt like an abandoned building! Weird arrangement they are practicing. Had to check in into the nextdoor hotel (Altona). Get the key. Walked back to Hordaheiman. Room was in Hordaheiman. Breakfast us again nextdoor at Altona every morning. Lucky breakfast was decent.

I looked up at spotted the tip of what I think is Fantoft Stave Church!
