Bergenhus Fortress

Just an interesting statue on a building, in front of the fortress grounds!

There it is. From across the waters. Doesn’t the fortress look attractive in her Medieval architecture?

Entrance to the fortress

Let me see if I can get this right.
The Bergenhus Fortress is actually a guarded compound whereby several Medieval buildings from the 1240s are standing there today.
There’s …
Rosenkrantz Tower
Christ Church
Haakon’s Hall

Entrance is free for photography, however the tower was under construction when we were there and the church and hall were closed, probably during winter.

The Rosenkrantz Tower

Ahhhh, this is the castle I was reading about. Norway’s first castle in the 13th Century.

The King Håkon’s Hall

Built between 1247 and 1261 as a royal residence and a banquet hall.
