6PM on 4 January 2023. Tromso.
I was soooo excited. Will we see the beautiful Aurora Borealis tonight? The tour guide was so positive and almost certain that we would. It was an exceptionally clear night / sky in Tromso. Rarely happened like this, she said. So, everyone was excited. For sure, we would the green lights.
We waited and waited. Hot chocolate. Coffee. Tea. They were offered to all. Cookies too. Waited some more. Waited for 7 hours! Not a single sign of green light. It was windy. It was cold. It was a super clear night.
So, we took photos of ourselves. In the dark! To entertain ourselves. Tried not to get into the bus. Danced around to keep warm!!! Until the tour guide announced it was time to go home. That was almost midnight.
So sad.
